Walpole Softball League (updated for 2012)
WGSA offers Spring and Summer softball through the Walpole Softball League. These programs are developmental in nature. The Spring season is open to girls in grades 2 - 8 (Grade 2 only will be instructional) and the Summer season is open to girls in grades 2 - 8. All girls that register on time are placed on a team and every girl plays. For more information, click on either the Softball League tab at the top of the page or the Softball League button in the left margin.
Attendance
We recognize and respect that many of our players enjoy other activities. However, softball is a team sport, and part of being a good teammate is attending games and practices. Our expectation as a league is that players attend at least 75% of games and practices.
GRADE 2 - INSTRUCTIONAL LEAGUE
Wed 6:00pm to 7:30pm and Sat 1:00pm to 2:30pm
Are you interested in playing softball but are not old enough to play in the recreational league. We have the perfect opportunity for you!
Lisa Cyr will be running a spring clinic just for 2nd grade girls to learn the basic fundamentals of softball. This will help them get ready to play either in THIS summer's rec program or next spring's rec program.
They will have fun while learning fielding, hitting, throwing and base running skills. The last session will be a game so that
they can apply the skills they have learned. After this, they will be prepared to play at the next level!
Lisa Cyr - Coordinator and coach for the Instructional League this spring (She is also the Walpole High School Varsity Volleyball coach and worked with the Instructional League last spring)
-
We will have 12 sessions of instruction and parents will be able to volunteer and help teach the fundamental skills of softball
